Purpose:  The Fraud Prevention and Education Task Group (FPETG) consists of industry members, regulatory officials and interested parties.  Under the guidance of the Professional Development Committee (PDC), the task group will develop educational outreach strategies, and materials to educate regulatory officials, retailers, industry members and consumers in identifying and addressing fraudulent practices encountered by weights and measures programs.

Charge:  The FPETG will continue in force until the task group Chair and the PDC Chair agree the work has been completed.  The task group may also be disbanded by vote of the NCWM Board of Directors.  The task group is charged with researching both existing and emerging issues regarding fraudulent practices affecting the weights and measures community. The FPETG will actively seek topics from NCWM membership and select topics to develop related to types of fraud involving weights and measures transactions. The task group will hold meetings via electronic media, teleconferences, face-to-face meetings or by other means available. The FPETG will provide updates and present educational presentations at NCWM meetings.

Decision Process:  All appointed participants of the task group are encouraged to fully participate in the development and final vote on recommendations.  If consensus cannot be reached, the vote shall be reported in a manner showing the count according to participant interest.

Reporting:  This task group submits its recommendations to the Professional Development Committee for consideration by the NCWM membership.
