A valuable resource. The following publications are products of years of ongoing work by the National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM) committees, participating members, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Weights and Measures Division. The NIST Handbook’s 44, 130 and 133 are the standards developed and adopted by the conference. These publications provide a valuable resource for the weights and measures industry and government regulators alike.

NIST Handbook 44, 130 and 133, NIST Handbook 44, 130 and 133 are published in their entirety each year following the Annual Meeting of the NCWM. The Committees on Specifications and Tolerances and Laws and Regulations of the NCWM developed the current handbook editions with the assistance of the Weights and Measures Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). These handbooks include amendments endorsed by the National Conference on Weights and Measures. The Conference recommends adoption and promulgation by weights and measures jurisdiction of the newly adopted standards, laws and regulations.

NIST Handbook 44, 2008 Edition, Specifications, Tolerances, and Other Technical Requirements for Weighing and Measuring Devices, as adopted by the National Conference on Weights and Measures.

NIST Handbook 130, 2008 Edition, Uniform Laws and Regulations in the Areas of Legal Metrology and Engine Fuel Quality, as adopted by the National Conference on Weights and Measures.

NIST Handbook 133, 4th Edition, January 2005 (Current Edition), Checking the Net Contents of Packaged Goods, as adopted by the National Conference on Weights and Measures.

NCWM Publication 14, 2007 Edition, NCWM Publication 14 is comprised of four sections and sold individually: Weighing Devices, Measuring Devices, Grain Analyzers, and NTEP Administrative Policy.

The Weighing Devices, Measuring Devices and Grain Analyzers sections include the Technical Policy, Checklists, and Test Procedures used by the authorized NTEP labs during the device evaluation. NTEP recommends that all NTEP applicants conduct a checklist review of their device type using the appropriate checklist available in Publication 14. In addition, it is recommended that the applicant review NIST Handbook 44, Specifications, Tolerances, and other Technical Requirements for Weighing and Measuring Devices, current code requirements for your device.
