The National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM) is considering development of an online forum where NCWM members could post positions and comments on all items listed in NIST Publication 16 prior to the Annual Meetings. The forum would give members the ability to review each agenda item, declare preliminary support, opposition, or neutrality, add comments and an option to upload supporting documents. After the comment period closing date, all comments along with a statistical summary of returned positions would be posted for all members to view prior to attending the Annual Meetings.
This initiative would provide all members greater ability to participate in our process. It would also enable individuals to enter the Annual Meetings more informed on issues of importance to them. The end result will be an improved model of standards for weights and measures in the United States.
